Cabinet refacing & refinishing · Ridgecrest to Mammoth

A new kitchen look, without tearing out your cabinets.

Keep the cabinet boxes you already have. We build new doors and drawer fronts in our Ridgecrest shop, refinish the frames to match, and install everything with our own crew. Most kitchens are back in use a few days after we start the install.

Two ways to do it

Which one is right for your kitchen?

Both keep your cabinet boxes in place. The difference is whether the doors stay or go. Not sure? That is what the free visit is for.

Refacing: new doors, same boxes

New doors and drawer fronts, built to your sizes in our shop, in the style and finish you pick. The cabinet boxes stay, and we refinish the face frames and end panels so everything matches. New soft-close hinges come with it.

Best when: the doors are dated, worn, or damaged, or you want a different style.

Refinishing: your doors, a fresh finish

We take your doors down, repair and sand them, and refinish or repaint them in the shop where the finish cures properly. The frames get done in place. Your kitchen, in a new color or the same one, without the wear.

Best when: you like the door style, but the finish is worn, yellowed, or the wrong color.

Shaker doors, painted

Stain-grade doors are built in oak, alder, or maple and finished in the shop. Paint-grade doors are built to take paint and sprayed in the color you choose. Either way, the frames are finished to match, so the kitchen reads as one piece.

Questions

Things people ask us

What is the difference between refacing and refinishing?

Refacing means new doors and drawer fronts on your existing cabinet boxes, with the face frames and end panels refinished to match. Refinishing keeps your doors and gives everything a fresh finish or a new color. We'll tell you which one fits your kitchen at the visit.

How much does it cost compared to new cabinets?

Usually a fraction of a full replacement, because the cabinet boxes stay and there is no demolition. Every kitchen is different, so we price it at the free visit and you have a firm number before anything starts.

How long does it take?

After your visit and quote, the shop usually needs one to two weeks to build your doors and drawer fronts. The install itself takes a few days for most kitchens, and you can keep using your kitchen for most of it.

Can I change the door style, or just the color?

Both. Shaker, slab, or raised panel, painted or stained. Mixing is fine too, like painted uppers with stained lowers.

What about hinges and handles?

New doors come with new soft-close hinges. You can keep the pulls you have, bring your own, or pick from the ones we carry.

Do you do bathrooms, laundry rooms, and offices?

Yes. Anywhere there are cabinets, we can reface or refinish them.

Do I have to empty my cabinets?

No. We work on the outside of the cabinets. Clear the countertops and we take care of the rest, including cleanup.

Where do you work?

Ridgecrest and China Lake, Inyokern, Trona, the Lake Isabella area, and north through Lone Pine, Bishop, and Mammoth Lakes.

Is there a deposit?

After your visit and quote, a deposit holds your spot on the shop schedule. The balance is due when the install is complete.

Do you work with contractors and property managers?

Yes. If you want doors and drawer fronts built to your sizes for your own install, or you manage several units, call the shop or mention it when you book.
